1. What is your favourite subject?  My favourite subject is math 2. Why did you decide to become a teacher? I decided to become a teacher to help children learn. 3. What grades have you taught? I have taught grades, kindergarten , 1, 2, and grade 7. 4. What schools have you taught at? I have taught at Belledune School, Cambelleton middle school, L.E.R and Jacquet River School 5. Why did you decide to become a teacher?I love working with kids. 3.  How long have you taught at J.R.S?This is my third year. 4. What grades and subjects have you taught?Just kindergarten. 5. What is your favorite instrument?Guitar 6. What is your favorite subject?When I was a student, physed was my favorite but now I love to teach math.

How long have you been teaching at J.R.S? I have been working for ten years.   What grades and subjects do you teach? I teach grade four most of the day and teach art to students from kindergarten to grade five.   Have you taught at any other schools? If so, where? I have taught at Tide Head Elementary, Lord Beaverbrook Elementary and Lorne School.   Why did you decide to become a teacher? I always wanted to be able to help other students and watch them progress throughout the year.   Do you coach any sports or supervise activities at school? I do not coach sports, but I supervise art during the 2:00 activities .   What do you like best about your job? Getting to know the kids and seeing how much they can learn in one year.   Do you have a favorite quote? If so what? “Ain’t  is not a word,” is one of my favorites and I say it a lot to the students because many students say “ain’t.”   I also like a quote by Walt Disney, “Laughter is timeless. Imagination has no age.  And dreams are forever.”

How long have you been teaching at Jacquet River School?This is my 6th year teaching at JRSWhat grades and subjects do you teach?I teach the whole school from grades K-8. The subjects I teach are physical education, shop class, grade 4 science, and grade 7 science.Have you taught at any other schools? If so, where?Yes I have taught at other schools. Before coming to JRS I worked at James M. Hill High school in the Miramichi, Janeville Elementary school in Janeville, and Belledune school in Belledune.Why did you decide to become a teacher?I decided to become a teacher because I really enjoyed going to physical education class when I was in high school with my teachers Mr. Leblanc and Ms. Mann. What they did seemed to be an enjoyable career, and I like working and interacting with kids.Do you coach any sports or supervise activities at school?I coach the boys volleyball team, and supervise the 2:00-3:00pm volleyball and shop activity.What do you like best about your job?What I like best about my job is laughing with the students.Do you have a favorite quote? If so, what is it?My favorite quote is "You can learn more about someone from an hour of play, than from a year of conversation" source unknown.

This is the first in our series called “Feature-a-Teacher.” Every few weeks we will interview a staff member at Jacquet River School and showcase that information on our school website. This month we have chosen two teachers, Michelle and Danielle Arsenault. They spend many after-school hours volunteering their time with the students of Jacquet River School. Mme Michelle –How long have you been teaching and or coaching?I have been teaching and coaching since 2003, 10 years ago.Were you inspired by someone? If so, who?My parents were a good inspiration for this teaching job and my former coaches, Denise Pottage and Brian Landry, along with my parents, inspired me to start coaching.What grades and subjects do you teach? I teach grades 3, 4, 6 ,7 and 8. I have been teaching French from the beginning and most recently started teaching math.What sports do you coach? I coach volleyball and soccer at JRS and help out with the Lego Robotics Project with grades 3 and 5.What do you like best about teaching and/or coaching?The best thing about teaching and coaching is being with the students and having fun with them. Mme Danielle—How long have you been teaching and/or coaching?This is my 8th year teaching.Were you inspired by someone? If so, who?Like my sister, my parents inspired me to begin teaching.What grades and subjects do you teach? I teach is grade 5 and the only subjects I don’t teach are; Physical Education, Music and Art. Mrs. Holly Talbot How long have you been teaching and/or coaching? I have been teaching for five years and coaching for ten years. Were you inspired by someone to go into education? If so, who? I was inspired by Miss. Monette Guitard. What grades and subjects do you teach? I teach grade 2 all of their subjects except music, art and physical education. What sports do you coach? I coach basketball and volleyball. What do you like best about teaching and/or coaching? The best thing about teaching is the smiles on kids faces when they’re proud of something they have accomplished. The best part about coaching is seeing the kids involved in sports.
